Categories: Screencasts, SharePoint
Continuing with our SharePoint 101 screencast series recorded from SharePoint Saturday Baltimore, in Part 4, I demonstrate how to emulate network share navigation in document libraries without creating folders and explain how SharePoint permissions work.

Watch Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3 if you haven't.

There doesn't appear to be anything to click on. The page that I see (IE 6, this is a work computer) has "Enjoy the video:", but then no link to anything (slide deck, video file, nothing).

In your surprise party example, you create the item and then assign permissions after to prevent Mr Tokyo from seeing it. However what if this user had set himself up with alerts on this list - he would have gotten an email when the new item was created so would have visibility of it in his email, albeit not when he goes to look at it in the SP site. So my question is, can you apply permissions to the item as you are creating it? Or should you somehow create it as a draft first, then apply permissions, then publish it?
